Scottish Union for Education – Newsletter No41 – Part 2
Newsletter Theme: GRC (Gender Recognition Certificate) changes
For Women Scotland had an appeal against the idea that a GRC (Gender Recognition Certificate) changes a person’s sex. While some issues were resolved here, many were not, and in some cases men with a GRC will still be treated as women.

Exposing lobby groups is key to ending gender ideology in education
Sam Cowie is a campaigner seeking to empower parents and demand action from decision makers. He hopes to improve the lives and protections of Scottish children by drawing on his own personal experiences with safeguarding failures.
Plenty of attention is given to the horrors of RSHP in Scotland, and rightfully so, but we need to look beyond the materials that we can find online if we are going to make a difference, because this is just the tip of the gender iceberg. Without the gender zealot lobby groups in Scotland the more insidious parts of the RSHP materials wouldn’t exist, and what concerns me more are the organisations that are currently in our schools under an invisible cloak.
LGBT Youth Scotland (LGBTYS) is among the key players. It is a lobby group paid by the Scottish government to then lobby the Scottish government, and as such is a group that is at the forefront of the gender ‘racket’. More than just a lobby group, LGBTYS acts as educator of schools and teachers, providing training (that’s training rather than discussion) across the education sector and beyond. Their Charter Scheme is in schools across Scotland, and its materials and tactics are protected by the ‘commercial interests’ defence, which means that it is often difficult, or indeed impossible, to find out what they are promoting. Reading their available material, however, we can see that LGBTYS aims to change policy in schools, festoon the schools with ideological posters, tell teachers to use pronouns, and push for gender neutral toilets.
More than this, LGBTYS has a direct role with children themselves; it is actually inside schools and hosts youth groups in the evenings, combining young children aged as young as 10 years old with adults aged up to 22.
Why this organisation should be at the forefront of our thoughts around indoctrination in our schools is obvious to me. For starters, the organisation gained national notoriety in 2008 when its CEO and founder was jailed for possessing child rape materials, running one of Scotland’s largest paedophile rings, and the actual rape of a baby. It’s hard to read such things, but it’s important to be in possession of the facts. I myself was a victim of their lack of safeguarding and basic care some years later.
LGBTYS has been involved in the creation of RSHP modules; it created the ‘trans’ policy that’s now been adopted by the Scottish government, and it was involved in the gender resources for nurseries in and around Glasgow. Police Scotland signed up to their Charter Scheme for organisations, the Scottish NHS gives them over £156,000 a year, cash-strapped councils fork out tens of thousands a year. This isn’t some fringe organisation that sits on the outskirts; it’s in every place that matters.
An FOI regarding a primary school in Edinburgh recently uncovered that the school had primary five pupils write to MSPs to plead for gender neutral toilets. The language used was astonishing. One child wrote, ‘Did you know at [school name redacted] we have a LGBT champion group and take part in the LGBT Charter, but we want to do more. Did you know Sweden are the most gay friendly country in the world. Did you know Scotland is considered the best country in Europe for LGBT progress.’ Another wrote, ‘Me and my peers research lots about Scotland and Sweden. Did you know that Sweden was voted the most LGBT friendly country and hope we could be voted that one day too. Did you know that being in a same-sex couple in Sweden has been legal since 1944 but in Scotland it was legal in 1981.’
Either these are the most educated and historically literate primary kids in Scotland, or what we are witnessing is the lobbying of children by LGBTYS to adopt and pass on their own messages and ideology (via young children) to politicians. As the worm eats its own tail, we find that the lobbying framework funded by the government has turned full circle, and now politicians in Holyrood can claim to be funding LGBTYS simply because this is what nine- and ten-year-old kids want! Indeed, these letters from children were later submitted as evidence to LGBTYS so that the school could gain the Gold Level Award of the Charter Scheme.
Another FOI, for another primary school, has uncovered a briefing sent to teachers who were unable to attend the LGBT training provided by LGBTYS to the school as part of their Charter Scheme ‘journey’. The briefing contained the use of the trans umbrella, which is a graphic that is used to highlight gender identity and the many forms we’re told it comes in. Giving an example of the highly contested ideology being used for training teachers, here we find that teachers are being instructed to understand that ‘gender identity’ relates to ‘a person’s innate sense of their own gender, this may or may not correspond to sex assigned at birth’.
Some may agree with this statement, many disagree. Here, however, it is part of the training – indeed, part of the values that schools and teachers are being instructed to adopt as a new truth.
Worryingly, the briefing also set out several articles from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These particular rights were cherry picked and used in a one-sided way to justify transgender ideology being trained into staff: Article 8 – the right to an identity; Article 16 – the right to privacy; Article 12 – respect for the views of the child. These things in and of themselves are valid points, but when mixed with a pernicious ideology such as gender ideology, they quite clearly seek to strip rights from parents and give them to the state. Privacy, for example, does not appear to include the privacy of parents and families. They also ignore, in reality, the rights of those children who question or disagree with the ‘correct’ gender message – something that schoolboy Murray Allan found to his cost when thrown out of class for suggesting that there are only two genders.
Parents must be aware of the nature and tactics of these organisations. All of us must band together, irrespective of our politics or religious beliefs, to stop this in its tracks. Irreversible damage has already been done, and we mustn’t wait while it continues. Write to your school or council and express your concerns about this ideology and its puppet masters. The more we do, the more authorities will take note. We need to stop these organisations, local authorities, and the government from promoting adult, often fetishistic, identities over the basic safeguarding of children. It’s a failure on a monumental scale and it’s happening across the country.
